Yes. Over the Andes.

I can't believe it's so close but in a couple of weeks we'll begin our ride across Argentina. We are roughly planning on riding from Buenos Aires to Tierra del Fuego which takes us up and over the Andes. The anticipation is palpable but there is still so much to do! Plans are not set in stone so we need to be prepared for everything and nothing. Even the starting point is still up in the air. We may start closer to Patagonia, however, to have more time riding through the wilderness but we aren't one hundred percent sure. That's the beauty of this ride; It's a fly by the seat of my pants adventure. We want it all and would like to ride through the populated parts of Argentina as well as well as the rain forest. Stay tuned routes may and probably will vary.

I'm always asked why I'm doing this. It's part adventure, part self exploration and part product testing. People and culture are equally as stunning as the most pristine mountain lake and a field of wild flowers. To ride through a country and be immersed in it's culture is really people watching at its best. Moreover, I have learned so much about myself and have discovered the beauty of having five fabulous senses biking through towns and simply experiencing. Well, perhaps this is an obvious comment but, when i think of traveling, i think of simply being.

I'm still building the bike that will carry me over the 3000 miles and 3 months of riding and I'm eager to put the wheels I'm building for this journey to the test. As a high end wheel builder I'm always looking for ways to improve and test my product. This is a sure way.

Jude, it was amazing synchronicity to run into you at the Denver Airport on Monday. Who would have thought? Yes, riding our bikes is truly connecting with the joy of Pure Being. It is an art and a meditation. Breathing, listening, seeing, experiencing surroundings rather than just passing through them. And maybe you'll have the answer to why it's better on a bike than just walking? There's a really special relationship with our bikes that is hard to describe. I don't even feel guilty for 'loving' this supposedly 'inanimate object'. It's atoms and molecules ARE alive - and they absorb our passion and energy. Have fun. I'll look forward to reading your insights!

Jude, be the stillness and let all of life flow through you. I'll be there with you all the way. Looking forward to striped socks and riding when you return.
